For all my fellow NYC vintage lovers, there is a big weekend of vintage shopping approaching! Oddly enough, both the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show and the Pier Antique Show are happening over the same three days. The Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show will take place March 28th & 29th and the Pier Antique Show is March 29th & 30th. So, if your little vintage-loving heart desires, you can shop until you (and your wallet) drop next weekend.
As the name suggests, The Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show is just clothing (and accessories). There are 80 vintage dealers selling their wares at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street. I’ve been going for years and have gotten some of my favorite pieces there. It’s almost impossible to go there and not find something amazing. To find out more, their website is www.manhattanvintage.com. In addition to being a great place to find vintage to wear, its also an amazing place to people-watch. Check out the beautifully shot coverage by New York Magazine to see some of the beautiful people and outfits at the last MVCS in January, including some of my lovely friends!
The Pier Antiques Show is a much bigger affair, and is held at the huge Pier 94 on the West Side of Manhattan. This show covers antiques of every kind: furniture, paintings, books, knick-knacks and art of all kinds. However, in one corner of the Pier there is a section called “Fashion Alley” where all fo the clothing vendors sell their wares. There are approximately 50 vintage clothing vendors and again, I have never left there without some amazing finds. In face, I bought the entire outfit in the sidebar picture to your right at the Pier Show- dress and hat! Just one word of caution: most vendors do take cards, but there are a few that only take cash and last time the ATM ran out of cash! (Although it was the end of the second day). So come with cash in your pocket! To find out more, their site is www.pierantiquesshow.com
